HUB NVQ Review Days | NVQ assessment | Networking | Trainee graduation | At the end

This overview of the 9 month placement gives you a ‘taste’ of the LEMUR project and some of its expectations.

Before accepting a place you must be happy to commit to the project and fully participate in the tasks and activities asked of you.

Induction

Trainees first day will be spent attending an induction to the project and its practices. The remainder of the week is spent easing themselves into their placement and finding out what they will be doing with their host.

Teambuilding

In week two trainees attend a four day residential teambuilding event in Devon. Trainees begin to work collectively and bond as a team. Starting with a canoe trip down river, trainees begin to participate in a range of activities; training taster courses and learn more about the NVQ/OCN courses they will work towards during their placement.

Training courses

In weeks three and four, trainees start a two week block of heritage based training at their hub, that provides them with the fundamentals necessary to start work with their placement.

Ready to start work with your host placement

From this point onwards, trainees are ready to begin to work full-time with the various hosts carrying out a huge range of activities within their role descriptions.

The host will help each trainee develop their professional experience under the direction of their own Individual Learning Plan; support their progress toward their NVQ and receive quarterly personal performance reviews.

During these activities trainees share experiences and learn new heritage skills and a sense of good working practice whilst working on the job.

Trainees can access support and mentoring from their relevant hub and host supervisor at any time.

HUB Open Days

During the project each ‘hubs’ trainees take turns to organise and run a day for all other Lemur’s from other hubs. This provides opportunities for each Lemur trainee to experience other types of work within the sector.

HUB NVQ Review Days

Every 6 weeks trainees return to the hub for support and mentoring on their NVQ/OCN portfolio, and receive advice on careers and C.V’s.

NVQ assessment

This is an ongoing process throughout the 9 months. NVQ assessors from your hub are at hand to support and validate trainees competency in the work place.

Networking

Throughout the project trainees will be able to meet professionals from a range of organisations as well as gain an overview of the sector as well as share experiences and practices.

Trainee graduation

To mark the end of all this hard work and achievement, all trainees will attend a passing out day.

At the end of the placement

Trainees will have established a proven track record in which to enter the heritage sectors ranks of many professionals.
