First 12 LEMUR trainees graduate

The first 12 Lemur trainees completed their placements at the beginning of March 2007. This milestone was celebrated with a graduation ceremony held near Exeter in Devon on Friday 2nd March and was attended by the Lemur management team, placement supervisors and by the naturalist and TV presenter, Nick Baker.

Ten of the twelve trainees have successfully gained immediate employment within the conservation sector. For details of where they have gone to, click on the individuals in the photo or see text below.

SWT trainees

Paul Evison, Community Parkland Officer with Wentworth Castle & Stainborough Park Heritage Trust, now Allotment Officer with Barnsley Groundwork;

Anna Marie Murray, Education Officer with Price Waterhouse Cooper in Northern Ireland, now Environmental Education Officer with Northern Ireland Water;

Tom Newman, Project Ranger/Assistant Woodland Officer and currently Area Ranger Officer with Sheffield City Council;

Helen Lloyd, Graduate Ecologist with RPS Group Plc, based in Huddersfield.

 

HNT trainees

Rebecca May, First Trainee Ecologist and currently Ecologist with Warwickshire County Council;

Bernadette Noake, Herefordshire Woodlands Project Officer (9 months maternity post) and currently Conservation Officer (Threatened species) with Butterfly Conservation;

Catherine Haynes, Volunteer post with FWAG;

Louisa Medland, Ecologist with RPS Consultants.

 

Ambios trainees

Jayne Evans, Biological Records Assistant & currently Assistant Marine Biological Data Officer with MBA;

Catherine Rance, Education Ranger with Sharpham Trust;   

Liam Prior, Countryside Ranger with Finlaystone Country Estate (a private estate outside of Glasgow along the River Clyde);

Danielle Wilson, went on to complete an MSc in ‘Conservation & Biodiversity’ at Exeter University.

Second Cohort

The second cohort of LEMUR trainees graduated on the 14th December 2007. The graduation ceremony was held in the grounds of Hellens, Much Marcle, Herefordshire. For details of where they have gone to, click on the individuals in the photo or see text below.

Ruth Snelson, now Technical Officer to the Biodiversity Officer with the Environment Agency;

Simone Singleton has a permanent post with Buckinghamshire County Council as Waste Education Officer;

Alice Midmore, currently working as a self employed traditional woodlandscrafts person with the collective working at Ecclesall Mills, Sheffield;

Robert Twiggs has a permanent post with Sheffield Wildlife Trust as Assistant Sites Officer;

Lewis Goldwater has a permanent post with Natural England as NNR warden in the Wyre Forest;

Ian Butler has a permanent post with CSA Environmental Planning as an Ecological Consultant;

Aaron Morris worked as a relief Ecological Assistant with Warwickshire County Council when he finished his placement. He went on to work for Andrew McCarthy Associates as an Assistant Ecologist.;

Agni Louiza Arampoglou has continued working with Warwickshire County Council as an Ecological Assistant;

Abigail Crosby has a permanent contract with Cornwall Wildlife Trust as their Marine Education Officer.;

Sarah Thomas went on to work for the Herefordshire Nature Trust as a part-time Play Ranger before going on to study Animal Conservation Science at the University of Cumbria. She has also continued with her Forest School Leader training;

Lyndsey Bird, Seasonal Ranger, National Trust, Scotland and subsequently at  Cutcean Castle & Countryside Park;

Gemma Cave has a post as Education Assistant with the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust.

Third Cohort

Joseph Bawden - Assistant Sites Officer with Sheffield Wildlife Trust. Now with the Peak District National Park Authority as a Trainee Land Advisor.

Helen Fletcher - Assistant Consultancy Ecologist with Worcestershire Wildlife Consultancy.

Robert Bacon - Conservation Officer with Countryside Council for Wales.

Camille Newton - Ecological Assistant with Warwick County Council.

Sophie Milburn - Ecological Assistant with Warwick County Council. Now an Environmental Planning Assistaent with Telford and Wrekin Council.

Stuart Higgs - Data Officer with Marine Biological Association.

Jenny Gellatly - Regional Co-ordinator, Mapping Local Food Webs, South West with Campaign to Protect Rural England.

Rosie Spraggon - Wildlife Education Officer with ORCA – Organisation Citacean.

Hannah Standen - Seasonal Ranger, Forestry Commission and working as a Project Manager for Teignbridge District Council .
